The Tern Vektron Q9 combines the convenience of a genuinely compact folding bike with the smooth, dependable assistance of a Bosch electric drive system. Designed for commuting, everyday transport, holidays and mixed-mode travel, the Vektron Q9 gives you the versatility of a folding bike without sacrificing the stability, comfort and practicality expected from a full-size electric bike.

A Folding E-Bike Built for Everyday Riding

The Vektron Q9 is designed to make electric cycling easier to fit into everyday life. Its compact folding design means it can be stored where a conventional e-bike may simply be too large, while its stable frame, wide Schwalbe tyres and adjustable cockpit give it a reassuring ride once unfolded.

The bike folds in around 10 seconds to approximately 42 × 86 × 68.5 cm, making it particularly useful for homes with limited storage, motorhomes, caravans, boats and journeys where a bike needs to be combined with other forms of transport. Unlike many small-wheeled folding bikes, however, the Vektron has been engineered to feel composed and practical enough for regular daily use.

Bosch Active Line Plus Motor and 400 Wh Battery

Electric assistance comes from the Bosch Active Line Plus drive unit, producing up to 50 Nm of torque and up to 270% assistance. It provides smooth, progressive support that is particularly well suited to urban riding, commuting and leisure cycling, with assistance available up to the UK and European pedal-assist limit of 25 km/h.

Bosch's Active Line Plus system is designed to deliver assistance naturally rather than overwhelming the rider. The compact motor has low pedal resistance when riding above the assistance limit and operates quietly, making the Vektron feel much closer to a conventional bicycle than many heavier electric bikes.

Power is supplied by a removable Bosch PowerPack 400 Wh battery. Depending on assistance level, terrain, rider weight, weather and riding conditions, Tern quotes a typical range of approximately 55–110 km (35–70 miles). Because the battery can be removed from the bike, it can also be charged separately when convenient.

Compact Wheels, Stable Handling and Adjustable Fit

Tern has designed the Vektron around 20-inch wheels to keep the folded package compact while retaining confident handling on the road. Wide Schwalbe Big Apple 55-406 tyres provide additional cushioning, puncture protection and reflective detailing for everyday practicality.

One of the Vektron Q9's biggest strengths is its ability to accommodate riders of very different heights. Tern's telescopic seatpost and adjustable Andros stem allow the bike to fit riders from approximately 147 cm to 195 cm tall, or 4'10" to 6'5". That makes it particularly useful for couples and families wanting to share one electric bike.

Tern Andros Adjustable Stem

The patented Tern Andros stem allows the handlebar position to be adjusted in seconds without tools. Move the bars forward and lower for a more efficient riding position, or bring them higher and closer for a relaxed, upright position around town.

Combined with the telescopic seatpost, this gives the Vektron an unusually wide adjustment range and means the bike can quickly be reconfigured when used by more than one rider.

Shimano Alivio 9-Speed Gearing

A Shimano Alivio 1 × 9 drivetrain provides a straightforward range of gears for urban riding, hills and longer journeys. The Shadow rear derailleur sits closer to the bike, helping protect it from knocks when the Vektron is being folded, stored or transported.

Combined with the Bosch motor, the 11–32T cassette gives the Vektron Q9 an accessible gearing range without unnecessary complexity.

Shimano Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Shimano hydraulic disc brakes provide powerful and easily controlled stopping performance in both wet and dry conditions. Hydraulic operation requires relatively little lever effort, making braking predictable and confidence inspiring whether you're commuting through traffic or riding with luggage on the rear rack.

Atlas V Rack for Luggage and Child Seats

The integrated Tern Atlas V rear rack gives the Vektron significantly more carrying ability than a typical folding bicycle. Its reinforced design is inspired by Tern's cargo bikes and has a maximum load capacity of 27 kg.

The rack works directly with compatible Thule Yepp Maxi and Dash RM child seats without requiring an additional adapter. It is also KLICKfix compatible and can accommodate a variety of panniers, making the Vektron equally useful for commuting, shopping or carrying everyday luggage.

Practical Equipment Included

The Vektron Q9 comes equipped for everyday transport straight from the box. Full-length mudguards help protect you in poor weather, while integrated front and rear lights are powered by the e-bike system. An Ursus rear-mounted kickstand, chainguard and bell add further everyday practicality.

Tern's Magnetix 3.0 system helps keep the bike together when folded, while removable MKS EZY pedals further reduce its footprint when it is being stored or transported.
